After working hard on developing a website, nobody wants to experience a high bounce rate. Luckily, there are ways to improve your bounce rate to ensure your visitors stick around for longer. Any little bit that you do to lower your bounce rate can help ensure your website is successful.
1. Site Navigation
An important component of your site is the feasibility of users to navigate your webpages. Users should not find it difficult to snoop around the website, or else they’ll leave just as soon as they get there. Make it simple for users to spot links to other webpages that they might be interested in without making them have to jump through hoops to get there.
2. Ad Messages
Any paid ads should have messages and keywords that match the content to your site. If they arrive at a site that has nothing to do with the ad message, they will be turned off and hit the Back button.
3. Page Load Speed
No one likes sitting around waiting for a webpage to load. If a page takes way too long to come up, your visitors will be gone. Slow-loading pages will easily send visitors packing.
4. Mobile-Friendly Webpages
Your website should have a responsive design in order for it to look good both on big and small screens alike. People don’t want to have to zoom in or scroll left to right just to be able to read content on their smartphones, so make sure your site’s deign is mobile-friendly.

Your site’s pages should be designed to allow visitors to clearly understand where they should be clicking next, whether it’s a link to another webpage, a button to perform a certain action, or a form to fill out. Weak CTA’s will increase the likelihood of visitors hitting the back button instead of going deeper into your site.
8. Annoying Pop-Ups
Pop-ups don’t really serve much of a purpose anymore because they are being viewed as more of a nuisance than anything else. This is especially true if they are invasive and don’t display anything that would be of any relevance.
9. External Links
You might be including links to outside sources, but this will directly send visitors out of your site and into another. This will do little but increase your bounce rate. Carefully consider whether it’s a good idea to include any external links on your webpages.
10. Broken Links
Any broken links on your site will turn off visitors who are trying to read other pages but can’t get there because the links they click on don’t lead anywhere. It’s important to regularly go through your website to make sure all links are working properly.
